A PARENT’S LOVE

Shortly after my husband and I got married the idea of parenthood intrigued me. However, I had yet to discover that the true miracle of raising children would remain hidden behind the many chapters we would eventually write together.

Accepting the unknown direction of this parental journey taught me a few things:
1) Parenting is not easy, because there is always something to learn.
2) No two children are the same, even if they wear matching outfits.
3) The differences between each child, is a blessing.
4) Yes, enjoying the simple things in life, can bring about the greatest memories.
5) Regardless of their age, our love for them remains.

Today, when I discover that someone is expecting a child, I imagine the incredible journey that awaits them. A journey filled with joyous adventures and yes, possibly a few unexpected challenges, and disappointments along the way. However, when a parent’s love produces patience, kindness, gentleness, compassion, empathy, and self-control, the rough waters of uncertainty may begin to settle down, bringing with it a calm perspective.

Today, when families visit us In the HOWse, I am grateful for the opportunity to witness the sacredness of the parent/child relationship. It is because of this treasured connection that I believe when a parent’s love has the support of a teacher’s heart, a child’s foundation can be strengthened.
