foundational Programming
In the HOWse Consulting provides individualized programming with a focus on growing the whole person. We understand that one day each child will become tomorrow’s adult.
Preparing Your Child for the Classroom
Our foundational programming encourages hands-on exploration using creative play, storytelling, and artistic expression to develop critical thinking skills in the hearts and minds of our youngest students.
Experiencing a smooth transition from a play-centered routine, into a more structured learning environment, can be a little difficult for some children, but it does not have to be.
Establishing healthy routines, while applying some simple and effective teaching strategies, is one way to support your child.
Another way, is by planting some foundational seeds of what they will need to know, BEFORE your child enters the classroom.
Consider all options, and prepare accordingly, for your child’s future will soon be here.
Understanding and Applying Foundational Subjects
For children already familiar with a classroom environment, we work to support their overall understanding and ability to apply the foundational subjects of reading, writing, spelling and math into every day life.
Children gain confidence in their ability to process, retain, and apply their knowledge, when a higher level of enthusiasm and curiosity for learning occurs. When connections between the foundational subjects and real life applications become clear, momentum increases, bringing with it a sense of joy when learning something new.
Our hope is that all the children we work with, along with their loving and supportive families, reap the benefits that come when a collaborative learning experience is established.
To ensure we remain accountable to you and your loved ones, we provide frequent feedback to measure your child’s progress.
Making Wise Decisions: Growing in Character
As an added-value, children are given the opportunity to practise making wise decisions based upon their maturity level, knowledge, and ability to navigate through different situations.
These decision-making opportunities are purposeful in nature as they provide a great way to encourage open and honest communications, while expanding your child’s negotiating and problem-solving abilities.
For young children, making a wise decision may involve choosing what to eat for a healthy snack. For youth, it may include making the decision to use respectful communication, when contributing to a conversation in a meaningful way, or when listening to another person’s perspective.
By creating space for developing life skills, the scope of a child’s perspective can expand to include the world around them. This new awareness can open the door of understanding, by helping children learn the difference between what they can control from what they cannot.
Focused on bringing forth all that they can control, children begin to draw upon their individual interests, talents, skills, and abilities when making wise decisions, ultimately growing in character.
As children and youth start to take responsibility for the quality of their work, their ability to be accountable for themselves and those around them has a tendency to increase.
In the HOWse Consulting believes in supporting the developmental growth in all children, while celebrating the little steps along the way.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. - Proverbs 3:5-6 (ESV)
Environment and Space
In the HOWse Consulting acknowledges that both parents and teachers have a shared responsibility to educate today’s children. As a result, we offer a ‘back to the basics approach’, that includes a technology-free environment and a loving home-like educational learning space.
Understanding the importance of collaboration, families have an opportunity to relax in our cozy living room, as a way to unplug from the noises that demand their immediate attention.
We offer this relaxing space for our families, because we believe that it is necessary for all of us, to enjoy a few minutes of quiet throughout the day.
Our hope is that children and their parents will feel at home and cared for, In the HOWse.
Your child isn’t behind - they just need the right support.
