A Teacher’s

As a teacher, there is nothing more precious than to witness the face of my students turn from a look of uncertainty into an expression of sheer delight, as they realize they just learned something new. It is during these moments when my heart is filled with joy.

Appearing like a stream of endless possibilities flowing downward, a fresh perspective on how each student views their individual skills, talents, and abilities becomes known. What was once viewed as impossible may become possible with time.

Although my love for teaching grows stronger every day, I am thankful for the teachers who continue to breathe life into each of their students through their kind words and thoughtful actions.

I know for myself, that whenever I teach a room full of students who carry various perspectives, I like to remind them that I not only see their beautiful faces, but that I imagine a room full of loving family members, care providers, friends, and supportive community members, who have influenced each student’s lived experience in some way.

As a result, I believe that I have a responsibility to do my best to meet each student where they are at, while creating a learning space that supports the foundational growth required to move forward.

Today, it is my hope that all of my students and their families feel welcome In the HOWse, as we come together in support of their child’s educational needs, keeping love at the center of our hearts.
